About Kerala
Kerala has become one of the most sought after tourist destinations in the world. This beautiful state
on the southwest coast of India has Western Ghats (Mountains) with wild life
sanctuaries and tea and spice plantations on her eastern boarder. The Arabian
Sea boarder the west coast. Between the mountains and the sea the land is
etched with spectacular waterfalls and large curvy rivers. These rivers empty
in to large bodies of 'Backwater' (lakes) before surrendering to the sea. Our
resort is on the bank of such a river - Pampa River . Every day the rivers and
lakes are crisscrossed by large hand made House Boats (Kettuvallam) full of
tourists from every part of the globe.
Kerala has been a subject of articles in National Geographic Magazine. Dutch,
French and Portuguese have come to the shores of Kerala in search of spices.
One of the most famous explorers Christopher Columbus had set out to reach
Malabar Coast (Kerala) but instead reached the Western Hemisphere . St
Thomas -One of the Apostles of Jesus Christ had visited Kerala and established
7 churches -beginning of Christianity on the continent. We have one of the most
ancient synagogues in the world. Our land is studded with Hindu Temples and
Mosques, some of them are world famous.
The well-known 'Vallamkali' (Snake Boat
Festival) originated here. We have 2 water festivals Moolam Kali and
another in memory of St Thomas. Both festivals can be watched from our resort.
